PARTNERSHIP IN TEACHING AND LEARNING

HCTA supports the school district's Strategic Plan which is designed to realize the vision to be among the top 1% of school districts in the nation.  These strategies drive school improvement and focus on increasing the capacity of school and school personnel to maintain environments that maximize opportunities for teachers to teach and for all students to learn to their fullest potential.

Among the strategies is the whole school effectiveness model that provides a blueprint for schools and teachers to operate at optimum effectiveness. The instructional model for this strategy will be grounded in standards and propositions of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards which supports effective teaching.

TEACHER TECHNOLOGY CENTER

HCTA is proud to be the founding partner in the Hillsborough Consortium for Technology and Education. The objective of the consortium is to partner the resources of business, community and education interests to build a 30,000 sq. foot state-of-the-art technology training facility for teachers. It will provide educators with access to computer technology and training after school hours and on weekends. It will include a curriculum library, with multi-sensory and software curriculum aids available to educators for check-out, as well as the printing, copying, and other related services needed to prepare lessons.

NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION

National Board Certification is a demonstration of your teaching practice as measured against high and rigorous standards. The certificate is a credential attesting that you have been judged by your peers as one who is accomplished, makes sound professional judgments about student learning, and acts effectively on those judgments. Offered on a voluntary basis, the advanced system of National Board Certification complements, but does not replace, state licensing. A 63 member Board of Directors, the majority of which are classroom teachers, governs the National Board. CTA/FEA endorses this advanced teaching credential.

WHY WAIT ANY LONGER?

HCTA is an Association that operates within the most democratic structures:

  • Elected Association Representatives at each worksite
  • Association Representatives, who meet monthly, form the policy-determining Representative Council
  • Board of Directors which meet monthly and consists of elected officers
  • Full-time local staff to implement policy and carry out the day-to-day business of the organization
  • Affiliation with the State (Florida Education Association, Tallahassee) and National (National Education Association and American Federation of Teachers, Washington D.C.) Public School Advocacy Associations.

Join the 122,000 Florida teachers and other school employees who are members of the Florida Education Association (FEA) through their county association, advocating the cause of public education.
