YOUR HELP
IS NEEDED!!!!!
Here are some talking points that
you can use when contacting a legislator to support National Board
Certification. Remember to identify
yourself [NBCT, candidate, interested teacher, parent, voter/taxpayer, etc] and
include your name and city. Begin by
thanking the legislator for their vision and commitment to quality public
education and for supporting the Excellent Teaching Program Act. Share a bit about how this program has
changed you as a teacher and how it has helped your students. Encourage their continued support of funding
as proposed by the Governor {$41 million} and to keep the program open to all
eligible teachers who voluntarily want to participate {do not cap participation}.
Please phone or e-mail all the
legislators on the Senate
Appropriations Committee ASAP. Then
start on your local legislative delegation.
"Adopt" a legislator for the session; ask to meet with them
when they return home at the end of each week, invite them to your classroom,
show them your portfolio. Speak from
your heart about public education and how this program is supporting quality
teaching and learning and high standards in Florida.
SPREAD THE WORK AROUND AND
LET'S HAVE THEM HEAR FROM FLORIDA FRIENDS OF THE NATIONAL BOARD.
